Saudi Telecom Company (STC) & Samsung launch strategic partnership
Saudi Telecom Company (STC) announced the launch of a strategic partnership with Samsung International following the signing of the agreement in January 2011. The announcement came during a press conference held on Wednesday June 23, 2011 at STC headquarters in the King Abdulaziz Telecommunications Complex in Riyadh attended by Eng. Nawaf Al-Shalani, General Manager Corporate Communication at STC, key executives from Samsung, other STC representatives, and members of the local press.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Kanhal General Manager Marketing at STC’s Personal sector explained: "The objectives of this partnership goes far beyond exchanging expertise and mutual interests to the enhancement the capabilities of both parties to introduce the best services, products and solutions to their customers, STC customers in particular who are the key target for all development processes, agreements and strategic partnerships that the Company executes, be it introducing the latest in telecommunications technology or the provision of the most advanced services and solutions or facilitating social networking activities.
He also pointed out the benefits of the strategic partnership with Samsung International will provide customers with many benefits combining Samsung's latest technologies and the expertise and experience of STC in managing and delivering services and solutions to its customers.
Dr. Ayman Manna Marketing Manager of Samsung Mobile Saudi Arabia assured that what distinguishes the partnership with STC is that it is the largest telecommunications operator in the region with expertise, human resources, and infrastructure qualifying it as an organization that is able to deal with the most sophisticated telecommunications technologies. Therefore, this partnership is fruitful for the three parties: customers, Samsung and STC. Dr. Manna also pointed out that the agreement includes many elements such as the introduction of Samsung's latest smart and tablets devices into the Saudi market that are supported by leading services from STC.
During the event, and for the first time in the region, STC launched (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) tablet device powered by Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb with a dual core processor 1 GHz. The device operates on G3 and Wi-Fi networks and it comes with a 10.1 inch wide screen and weighs 589 grams making it the lightest in its category and with accuracy up to (WXGA) TFT 800X1280. The device comes with many features including a 3 megapixel camera with an LED flash and 2 mega pixel front camera in addition to that, the device supports Google's latest services (Google Service) with a battery that ensures more than 10 hours of work. The device also supports flash files which are needed when surfing the internet.
The smaller version of the tablet device Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was launched which is powered by Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb) system with a 1 GHz Dual core.
During the press conference, key features of the Samsung Galaxy S 11 were featured. This device is rich with several technical capabilities powered by Google Android 2.3 (international) and is knows as (Ginger) which is one of the most advanced smart devices in terms of specifications and performance. It is expected that this partnership will result in introducing a wide range of tablet and smart devices that support Arabic language using STC’s leading services in introducing modern technology to the customers in their language using easy to use methods with the least prices.
