Female Viagra

Female Viagra

Almost fifty percent of the women in the world suffer from some or the other form of sexual dysfunction. The condition of ‘sexual dysfunction’ in a woman can be described as a lack of desire, lack of arousal or inability to reach orgasm. Amongst all these situations, the one that is experienced by majority of women is a lack of desire for sex. Many women also claim to have experienced difficulties with lubrication, mainly the result of a lack of sexual arousal. It is here that drugs like Viagra come into picture.

How can Viagra Work?

It has been advocated that Viagra-like pills can help in solving the problem of lubrication in women, by increasing the blood flow to the genitals. The question is how the pill will be able to do it. Viagra, when taken by a man, results in an enhanced blood flow to the genital areas, which in turn leads to desire and arousal. In short, it solves the problem of sexual dysfunction in men. The supporters of Viagra have argued that the pill will increase the pelvic blood flow in women too and result in sexual arousal.

The Problem

Research and trials conducted in relation to the effect of Viagra in females have thrown up a different picture altogether. The studies have pointed out, that genital arousal in a woman does not necessarily lead to the development of sexual desire. This is because in case of a female, sexual arousal is based on mental and emotional factors, along with the biological ones. Thus, in cases where sexual dysfunction is a result of emotional or psychological factors, Viagra will not be much helpful.

Conclusion

The research undertaken in context of female Viagra has also revealed that in case of lubrication problems in women, the pill has great chances of succeeding. The same holds true in case a woman is suffering from sexual dysfunction due to side effects of other medication. Still, companies are conducting trials and studies to develop the female wonder pill. Whether it will be really effective or not, only time will tell.
